GrowLife (PHOT) Supports New Federal Marijuana Proposal

Posted by on April 15, 2013 in Marijuana in the News

GrowLife Inc. (OTCQB: PHOT), a provider of highly effective indoor growing technologies and unique lifestyle brands, has been an avid supporter of pro-marijuana regulation, but a new federal bill allowing states to set marijuana laws could be a game-changer for itself and other firms like Medical Marijuana Inc. (OTCQB: MJNA) and MediSwipe Inc. (OTCQB: MWIP).

After a year of acquisitions and organic growth, the company has become a leader in providing indoor growing technologies for marijuana plants. Its products are sold through its online store, Greners.com, and new retail locations located in California, while its consulting services are already available in several states that have legalized marijuana use.

GrowLife, Inc. (PHOT), a provider of highly effective indoor growing technologies and unique lifestyle brands, is pleased to announce its enthusiastic support for House Bill 1523, the “Respect State Marijuana Laws Act of 2013.” Congressman Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) and a bi-partisan group of U.S. representatives have introduced legislation that could end the enforcement of federal marijuana laws in states that have either legalized it or adopted medical marijuana laws. Passage of the bill would protect 18 medical marijuana states and the first two legalization states, Colorado and Washington, from being undermined by federal enforcement of the Controlled Substances Act as it pertains to marijuana law.

A Yahoo report on the bill can be viewed at this link.

“This is potentially a defining moment in the present prohibition of marijuana,” states GrowLife CEO, Sterling Scott. “I spent a large part of my career as an attorney in Washington, D.C. deeply involved in regulatory law in various industries. This bill, with its bipartisan support and timed with a dramatic rise in public support, is very likely the beginning of an event that will forever change the marijuana industry in the United States.”

Congressman Rohrabacher was clear in his goals and intentions in remarks after the bill’s introduction Friday. “This bipartisan bill represents a common-sense approach that establishes federal government respect for all states’ marijuana laws,” stated Rohrabacher. ”It does so by keeping the federal government out of the business of criminalizing marijuana activities in states that don’t want it to be criminal.”

Last week, the respected Pew Research firm declared that for the first time, the majority of the American population supports marijuana use, stating a 52% approval rate. Support is higher among those born after 1960, indicating a trend in favor of usage. Just 42% supported marijuana use in a 2010 Pew poll. Interestingly, the Pew report may have foreshadowed Rohrabacher’s bipartisan bill, stating that nearly 60% of politicos on both sides of the aisle say the federal government should not enforce federal laws prohibiting marijuana use in states where the drug is now legal.

“GrowLife is well-positioned to be opportunistic as it pertains to regulatory changes in the legal marijuana industry,” adds Scott. “We have rapidly built what is perhaps the largest, multi-channel and diversified product line in the marijuana industry. Passage of this bill into law would inarguably be a tremendous boon to our business model.”
