Traumatic awakening for thousands of Sicilians and Calabrians. An earthquake of magnitude 5.1 occurred this morning at 05:53 off the coast of Reggio Calabria, at a depth of approximately 65 km, as reported by the INGV seismographs.

The strong tremor was clearly felt by a large part of the population living on the Ionian coast.

Numerous reports from the inhabitants of Reggio, Messina, Catania and also Syracuse.

The authorities immediately alerted the Civil Protection, which began carrying out checks in the area. At the moment, from what has been reported, no damage has been reported to homes or other structures despite the intensity of the earthquake.
