5 exhibitions not to be missed in September in Milan

In Milan and surroundings September it is full of exhibitions not to be missed, also perfect for a lap on the weekend. Some have just started, others are about to close their doors. Here are five unmissable events selected for you.

Mc Escher

After ten years he returned to Milan, at Mudec, one of the most iconic artists of the twentieth century: Maurits Cornelis Escher (1898–1972). The exhibition collects over 90 works among engravings, watercolors, woodcuts and lithographs, flanked by about forty Islamic pieces to highlight its sources of inspiration. The path recounts the evolution of the artist: from the beginnings related to Art Nouveau, passing through the Italian landscapes, to the famous optical illusions and trimming that merge art and mathematics.

Dorothea Lange

Photographer symbol of the twentieth century, Dorothea Lange documents with its goal the events that have changed America. In the 1930s he abandoned the portraits to tell reality: the Wall Street crisis, the great depression and above all the dramatic conditions of agricultural workers affected by the phenomenon of Dust Bowl. His images, which also inspired Steinbeck and John Ford, remain one of the most powerful testimonies of the period.

Another look

At Villa Panza Il Fai proposes an unprecedented dialogue between the historic Panza collection and the works of contemporary artists selected by Gemma De Angelis Testa. On display works by big names such as Mario Schifano, Bill Viola, Anish Kapoor, Tony Cragg and Anselm Kiefer, never seen before in this context. A meeting between different visions, however united by the same passion for research and artistic quality.

Banksy – The World of Banksy

After international success, Banksy’s universe returns to Milan, this time at Spazio Varesina 204. The exhibition brings together some of the most famous works of the mysterious British Street Artist, facing themes such as war, consumerism, poverty and contradictions of our time. An opportunity to approach the provocative and ironic art that has conquered the world.

Space Dreamers

The cosmos is the new cultural obsession, and this immersive exhibition rides the trend. Space Dreamers accompanies visitors on a journey between 16 spectacular, interactive and multisensory installations. An experience designed to amaze and excite, which transforms space into an artistic adventure to be lived in first person.
