We “left” them in the turmoil of a kidnapping, in the hands of the competent institutions, but since then everything is silent and the actions that those institutions should have taken still await, making the situation even more complex.
The animals of the outrage of the last, the Roman refuge ended up in the center of a storm for the terrible conditions in which dogs, cats, goats, pigs, wild boars and other species were held lately, are at risk of survival and volunteers exhausted by an emergency that cannot be faced in this way.
ENPA associations, LNDC Animal Protection, Lav and Rete dei Sanctuaries report it. The entities appealed to the Lazio Region, highlighting serious problems, the result of a lack of lack of the entire story and responsibilities never taken.
The same cannot be said of the Municipality of Rome, which has already been activated as far as its competence guaranteeing the figure of a veterinarian, the allocation of funds for the maintenance of non -wild species and starting a constant dialogue with the volunteers. On the side of the Lazio Region, as the protectionist associations claim, nothing similar seems to have been planned.
On the contrary, there are delays in health prophylaxis and the danger of uncontrolled births for the promiscuity between male and female specimens. Then the resources are missing, the adequate care for the wild boars and hybrids entrusted to the region are missing. The volunteers are taking care of them, but the load became unsustainable day after day.
This is also added several critical issues found in the structure that houses animals such as the lack of adequate fences. In the areas destined for them the suids cannot even move freely given the impossibility of accessing the stables, whose entrances are blocked.
In the face of what has been found, animalistic organizations require the direct involvement and active intervention of the Arsial, the Lazio Region Agency and owner of the structure.
It is not admissible that the fate of animals already marked by suffering and abandonment depends solely on the goodwill of citizens and volunteers. The Lazio Region must immediately take on its responsibilities and guarantee adequate resources, staff and treatments. We wrote a letter to the Region and the Arsial highlighting all the critical issues, but we have not received a response. Every further delay not only worsens the conditions of animals, but represents a serious failure of the institutions in respecting their role as custodians of legality and animal welfare “declare the associations.
We cannot and we must not forget these animals and even institutions must not do it, leaving things in half without any subsequent concrete intervention. Everyone must do their part for the well -being of these specimens and the time and energy invested do not play in their favor.
