Lisa Vitozzi has just written another page in the sporting history of our country, winning the first gold medal ever in biathlon, a discipline that has always been a stronghold of other nations. On a memorable day also for Federica Brignone’s second consecutive gold, our country also achieved the absolute record in terms of number of medals (and the Games are not over yet).

As stated on the official website of the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympics, Lisa Vittozzi took first place in the 10km pursuit, giving Italy its first ever Olympic gold medal in biathlon. The Italian was the author of a performance defined as masterful on the shooting range, where a splendid 20/20 allowed her to overturn the match.
In the last shooting session the Norwegian stood up Maren Kirkeeidewho had a lead of over 12 seconds at the bottom, made two fatal errors, as did ours Vittozziremaining cool and focused, achieved the gold medal.

In all this our country, which with the second gold of Federica Brignone equaled the record of medals won in Lillehammer 1994, he has now surpassed it, among other things not with 21 medals, but with 22 because in the meantime he also achieved a splendid silver in the mixed team Snowboard cross (with Lorenzo Sommariva And Michela Moioliwho had already won bronze in women’s snowboarding).
