At the end of the Sanremo 2026 cover evening, controversy ignited due to the presence of Gianni Morandi, who went on stage by surprise singing the song “Vita” together with his son Tredici Pietro, competing at the event.

The moment thrilled the audience, becoming one of the most heartfelt and commented performances but the actor Alessandro Gassmann wasted no time in underlining that he was not allowed to participate to present a TV series as he is the father of an artist – Leo Gassmann – who sings at the festival.
Alessandro Gassmann noted that he, Leo’s father, in the race, was prevented from being at the Ariston.
“Ah… so it wasn’t true that when a singer is competing in Sanremo a relative cannot participate in the festival, and I absolutely agree, it’s a meaningless rule. – he wrote in a story posted on Instagram, accompanying the photo. Because I should have gone to the festival to present “Guerrieri”, the series which starts on Rai1 from Monday 9 March, based on the wonderful novels of Gianrico Carofiglio, but they told me I couldn’t because I was the father of a singer… oh well, come on, these bullshit, rules NOT equal for everyone. see you from March 9th.”
Gassmann’s reaction went viral. After all, what kind of Sanremo festival would it be without controversy… Will artistic director Carlo Conti respond publicly or let it go?
