Here we are, the Milan – Cortina Winter Paralympics are about to begin

Last February 25th the Paralympic Flame arrived in Milan, the heart of the next edition of the Paralympic Winter Games: the Opening Ceremony in Verona is scheduled for March 6th and the competitions will take place until the 15th of the month. Good luck everyone!

As reported by the official website of the competition, there were 49 torchbearers who took turns in the streets of the city centre, and it was our athletes Giorgio Minisini and Arianna Sacripante who lit the Paralympic Brazier placed on the stage in Piazza Duomo: the two synchronized swimming champions received the Flame from the hands of Giorgia Villa, gymnast who won the silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The Winter Paralympic Games include a packed program of sports, such as:

In particular, the Paralympic alpine skiing, Paralympic snowboarding and wheelchair curling competitions will take place in Cortina, the Paralympic biathlon and Paralympic cross-country skiing competitions will be held in Tesero, in the heart of Val di Fiemme, while Para ice hockey will take place in Milan.

All allow several athletes with physical and intellectual disabilities (in this case, those considered mild), with special equipment and/or supports.

Our blues are ready, good luck to everyone!
