Amidst the din of the bullfighting crowd, a completely unscripted scene spread by Caribbean News 24h and then taken up by several other profiles, it captured the attention of the public and, a few hours later, of the entire world. During a bull show, a woman suddenly entered the arena, running towards the bull under the incredulous looks of the spectators. This was neither a provocation nor a spectacular gesture to attract attention. The woman slowly approached the animal and, in front of hundreds of people paralyzed by surprise, hugged it.

The moment that left everyone speechless

What happened next made the scene even more incredible. In a context where the bull is normally described as unpredictable and dangerous, the animal did not react aggressively. The bull remained almost motionless, without charging or attempting to hit the woman.

For a few seconds, the arena remained suspended in an eerie silence: on one side the animal, on the other the woman who was holding him as if she wanted to protect him from what was about to happen. An episode that closely resembles what happened over 10 years ago when Virginia Ruiz, a 38-year-old animal rights activist, had made headlines in Malaga by throwing herself into the arena of the Plaza de La Malagueta to try to embrace a dying calf during a bullfight. Filmed by a group of anti-taurine girls and published on YouTube by the Colectivo Antitaurino de Marbella, the video also quickly went viral, attracting the attention of international media and earning her recognition from PETA as a “Hero for Animals”. Ruiz explained at the time that the gesture was spontaneous: outraged by the applause for the wounded bull, she approached without thinking, facing insults and aggression from the public until the police arrived, who then removed her from the square.
