A wave of cyber incursions has put personal data protection to the test on an international scale. In Italy, the company TeamSystem confirmed a serious IT accident detected on the afternoon of August 24th. The attack targeted the platform Cloud Accountinga tool used by thousands of businesses and freelancers for accounting management.
The authors of the intrusion managed to carry out a massive data exfiltrationsubtracting the customer personal data, contact details, history of accounting movements with related reasons and amountsand above all the bank details IBAN. The company specified that the access credentials were not compromised, excluding direct access to the profiles by the criminals, who however did not make ransom demands.

The risks of IBAN swapping and advanced phishing techniques
The presence of detailed accounting information in the hands of attackers opens up a critical scenario on the cybersecurity front. THE’National Cybersecurity Agency (ACN) raised a specific alarm about the danger of the so-called IBAN swapping. By exploiting knowledge of real business relationships and invoice amounts, fraudsters can send falsified communications to request the transfer of payments to fraudulent current accounts.

Among the primary recommendations is the obligation to verify each change request of the bank details by contacting the suppliers directly via already verified telephone channels, categorically avoiding clicking on external links included in emails.
The intrusion in British airports and precautions for users
At the same time, the aviation sector in the UK has taken a hit managed by the Manchester Airports Group. A targeted attack breached the airport databases of London Stansted, Manchester and East Midlandscausing the theft of the information of approximately 8.7 million passengers.
The violation mainly concerned users registered for the free Wi-Fi serviceexposing personal contacts, postcodes and car registration numbers. The managers of the facility promptly isolated the cyber threat, ensuring that no payment details or bank cards were compromisedconfirming the absence of dangers for the operation of flights and the safety of travellers.
