Levoit LVAC-200, we tried this cordless electric broom: strengths, weaknesses and what to know before buying it

The old canister vacuum cleaner, with the hose that gets stuck under the doors and the plug that has to be changed in every room, has ended up in the cellar in many homes. In its place, cordless electric brooms have appeared, those that can be hung on the wall and which can be operational (and put away) in a few moments. The success is due more to habit than to power, because they are tools that allow you to clean little and often, without each pass becoming a move. It remains to be seen whether this promise is able to hold true in everyday life, which is why we tried the Levoit LVAC-200 for daily house cleaning. The card talks about low weight, anti-tangle brush with LED lights and an autonomy that the manufacturer indicates as up to 50 minutes. In practice, as often happens, some elements work better than others.

Design and practicality: light, handy and wireless

The declared total weight is 2.85 kg, but the part that weighs on the wrist is the motor body with the battery, which according to Levoit’s technical data sheet weighs around one and a half kilos. You can feel the difference, and the lightness was one of the things we appreciated most.

The main brush features LED lights designed to bring out dust in corners and under furniture, where the eye usually doesn’t reach. The equipment is completed by some interchangeable accessories for furniture and surfaces other than the floor and a 0.58 liter dust container.

How it works: three suction modes and tangle-free brush

Under the body works a 180 W brushless motor, with three suction levels to choose based on the dirt and the battery you want to save. The roller, made of rubber and fabric according to the company’s launch press release, is designed to collect hair and fur without it getting wrapped around the bristles. With animals or long hair in the house it’s the difference between a brush that can be cleaned in an instant and one that can be freed with scissors, at least on paper.

The filtration is five-stage, with removable and washable filters, and Levoit claims that it retains 99.9% of particles down to 0.3 microns. The manufacturer also claims a cleaning effectiveness of 99.7% on hard floors, referring to a TÜV certification. These are data provided by the company, which we did not measure in our test, so keep in mind that a real living room, with crumbs under the table and sand brought by shoes, is a very different test bed from a laboratory.

Our test: what we liked

The point in which the LVAC-200 convinces the most is the one that is least thought about at the time of purchase, i.e. afterwards. The container opens above the bucket and empties in a few seconds, without complicated maneuvers. It seems like a detail, but for a device to be used every day it decides whether it will remain within reach or end up in the closet.

The same goes for the filter, which can be removed and changed easily. The battery also detaches and recharges separately, so the broom can remain hanging while the battery is charging in another room, a real convenience if there is no socket next to the closet.

The autonomy proved to be adequate for ordinary cleaning, without miracles but without unpleasant surprises.

Aspects to improve

The most obvious limitation is noise. The LVAC-200 is noisy, and the annoyance weighs more precisely because it is a device for frequent use, perhaps in the evening or with someone resting in the next room. We didn’t measure the decibels, we noticed them by ear.

A clarification is needed regarding the battery. The 50 minutes advertised are the maximum and, according to the Levoit sheet itself, are valid in Eco mode with small nozzles, without a motorized brush. With the floor brush the manufacturer indicates about half an hour in Eco and just over a dozen minutes at maximum power. Our test goes in the same direction: with the roller running and at higher speeds the charge drops quickly.

The 0.58 liter container must be evaluated based on the square footage and cleaning frequency. With daily passes you empty it before it fills up, while in a large house cleaned once a week it might need a few more stops.

Cleaning and maintenance: how easy is it to take care of it?

It is one of the most successful aspects of the model. Filter and container are easy to reach and neither operation requires any special tools or patience. This does not mean that the broom manages itself: the washable filters must be cleaned regularly and reassembled only when they are completely dry, according to the instructions in the manual.

Conclusions: who can it be useful for?

The Levoit LVAC-200 makes sense for anyone looking for a lightweight, often-used cordless vacuum cleaner with a worry-free filter and canister. The autonomy holds up to daily cleaning, as long as you don’t confuse the 50 minutes declared with the real duration at maximum power, while the noise remains the least convincing aspect. At the time of writing it is on sale on Amazon for €129.99.
