A weekend at the spa, perhaps with a walk through the alleys of a Tuscan village and a dinner already included in the stay. You don’t necessarily need to organize a long holiday or set aside a large budget. Sometimes two nights are enough, especially if meals and access to a swimming pool or wellness area are already included in the price.
Among Lidl Viaggi’s proposals there are two interesting offers for those who want to treat themselves to a few days of relaxation in Tuscany: one in Montecatini Terme, where the stay also includes the use of the hotel spa, and the other in Chianciano Terme, with an entrance to the Theia thermal pools.
It starts from 131 euros per person for two nights, but the two experiences are quite different. Let’s see what they include, when it is possible to leave and above all what to visit in the surrounding area, because these areas of Tuscany deserve much more than a day spent in a bathrobe.
Montecatini Terme: two nights with spa and half board
Montecatini has an elegance that is a bit from another era. There are tree-lined avenues, historic spa buildings, gardens and that particular atmosphere of cities born around wellbeing. It is no coincidence that it is part of the Great Spa Towns of Europerecognized as a UNESCO world heritage site.
About 1.3 kilometers from the center is the Grand Hotel Panoramic, a four-star hotel surrounded by greenery, away from the busiest roads but close enough to reach the main attractions of the city.
The Lidl Viaggi offer starts from 131 euros per person for two nights, compared to the reference price of 145 euros, and includes half board, with a reinforced breakfast buffet and a three-course dinner, accompanied by a buffet of vegetables and salads.
The strong point is access to the property’s wellness area, equipped with sauna, hydromassage and relaxation area, which can be used approximately from 8am to 9pm. The use of the fitness room and the outdoor swimming pool with sun loungers is also included, the latter available depending on the weather conditions.
The package also includes a welcome drink per person per stay. Private parking is available subject to availability.
The period indicated for stays is from 26 March to 25 October 2027, while the 10% promotional discount is associated with early booking by 31 March 2027.
What to see besides the spa
One of the experiences not to be missed is the historic funicular that goes up to Montecatini Alto. In a few minutes you leave the modern part of the city and reach a village made up of small squares, stone alleys and panoramic views of the Valdinievole.
It is also worth dedicating time to the Spa Park, where some of the most representative buildings of the city’s spa tradition are located, starting with the Tettuccio.
Those who want to move can organize a trip to Pistoia, Lucca or Vinci, Leonardo’s birthplace. For those who love walking, however, the surrounding hills offer itineraries among olive groves, small villages and rural landscapes.
It is a proposal suitable especially for those who want a spa directly in the hotel, without giving up the possibility of going out and visiting something during their stay.
Chianciano Terme: two nights with entry to the Theia thermal pools from 161 euros
Chianciano Terme has another rhythm. Here Tuscany changes landscape: we are between the Val di Chiana and the Val d’Orcia, in an area where the hills alternate with vineyards, olive groves and small historic centres.
The second proposal concerns the Hotel Miralaghi, a four-star hotel which can become a good base for alternating relaxation and visits to the villages of the Sienese province.
The Lidl Viaggi package starts from 161 euros per person for two nights, compared to the reference price of 169 euros, and includes half board, with a reinforced buffet breakfast and a three-course dinner with a choice of menu.
The peculiarity of this offer is that it includes a four-hour entrance for each paying person to the Theia thermal pools, one of the best-known attractions in Chianciano. It is therefore not the spa inside the hotel: the spa experience takes place in a dedicated structure.
The Theia pools are fed by thermal water and allow you to alternate moments in the pool with relaxation breaks, in a context designed specifically for those who want to dedicate a few hours to well-being.
According to the program, the stay also includes an oil tasting, a wine tasting and a visit to the Etruscan Museum of the Waters of Chianciano, an interesting addition to get to know the area through its history and its products.
The offer is indicated for stays from 15 March to 21 December 2027, with a 5% discount linked to booking by 31 March 2027.
A clarification for those traveling with their families: entry to the Theia swimming pools included in the package is not permitted for children under 14 years of age.
Between Pienza, Montepulciano and the landscapes of the Val d’Orcia
Chianciano is in a particularly convenient position for discovering some of the most interesting villages in southern Tuscany.
Montepulciano is about 10 kilometers away: it is worth a visit for its historic centre, the cellars and the Vino Nobile. Pienza, about 20 kilometers away, is one of the symbolic places of the Val d’Orcia, with its Renaissance architecture, views and shops where you can taste the famous pecorino.
Monticchiello is also worth a detour, a small fortified village that retains a quiet atmosphere, far from the busier centres.
For those who prefer nature, a possible excursion leads to Bagni San Filippo, known for its white limestone formations immersed in the woods. Without forgetting Sarteano, with its castle and medieval historic centre.
In this case, therefore, the stay at the spa can become the starting point for a small itinerary among landscapes, art, food and wine and villages.
Which one to choose? Two different experiences, both at affordable prices
The main difference between the two proposals concerns precisely the type of spa experience.
In Montecatini Terme, with a cost starting from 131 euros per person for two nights, you can stay at the Grand Hotel Panoramic with half board and access to the internal wellness area, including sauna, hydromassage and relaxation area. It is the cheaper solution of the two, particularly suitable for those who want to spend a good part of the weekend in a hotel, taking advantage of the services available.
In Chianciano Terme, however, prices start from 161 euros per person for two nights at the Hotel Miralaghi. Half board is also included here, but the wellness experience includes a four-hour entrance to the Theia thermal pools, outside the structure. Any tastings and a visit to the Etruscan Water Museum add a cultural and food and wine component to the holiday.
However, there is one detail to keep in mind before booking: the prices indicated are the starting prices, per person for two nights, and may vary based on dates and availability. Drinks and any tourist tax are not included.
The conditions for pets are also different: small dogs are admitted free of charge at the Grand Hotel Panoramic, upon notification, while at the Hotel Miralaghi there is a supplement of 10 euros per day. In both structures they are not allowed in the common areas.
For both offers there is a promotion linked to early booking by 31 March 2027, while the stays will take place during 2027.
The interesting thing about these two proposals is precisely the possibility of organizing a short holiday without giving up some comforts. In Montecatini you can choose to stay in the hotel to enjoy the spa and then take the funicular up to the ancient village. In Chianciano you can spend a morning in the thermal waters and dedicate the rest of the weekend to the landscapes of the Val d’Orcia.
Two nights are certainly not enough to get to know all of Tuscany, but they can be enough to break away from routine, eat well and return home with the feeling of having enjoyed a real holiday.
