All ready for thePartial eclipse of sun: Saturday 29 March the moon will pass in front of the sun, projecting its shadow on the Atlantic Ocean. The event, albeit less spectacular than total eclipse, will be wonderful and we can also admire it here. We don’t miss!
What is the partial eclipse of sun
When sun, moon and earth are perfectly aligned in this order, our satellite “covers” our star, which for a few minutes will therefore appear completely obscured, and in this case the extraordinary event called ‘is verified’Total eclipse of sun‘. If, on the other hand, alignment is not perfect, we talk about Partial eclipse of sun And our star appears “eaten” for one part.
The phenomenon is actually due toShadow of the Moon projected on earthwhich generates a cone of darkness on our planet, from which the phenomenon is observed. It is therefore not the moon in itself that obscures the sun as it is sometimes believed sometimes.
What we will see on March 29, 2025
Observers in Europe, West Africa and Eastern Canada are positioned to see a partial eclipse: but in reality this is one ‘partial eclipse everywhere in the shadow path, Because the cone never completely takes our planet at any point.

In the map, released by NASA, the yellow curves trace the extension of the phenomenon, the percentages on each of these curves indicate the maximum area of the sun covered by the moon during the eclipse, the green lines that cross the partial paths show the progress of the phenomenon over time, while the times on each line the moment when the maximum eclipse arrives on that line.

The phenomenon will start in particular at 9.50 Italian time, reaching the maximum at 11.27, to end at 13.43. The times are general, as latitude influences the timing, as well as the percentage of maximum coverageas can be seen in this mirror.

It will be all visible to the naked eye. Unfortunately, however, the inhabitants of Basilicata, Calabria, Sicily and part of Puglia (yes in the Gargano, no in Bari) will not be able to admire the phenomenon. For them and in general if something should prevent vision, for example time was not favorable, we can still connect to the streaming made available by Timeanda.
The eclipses never come on their own, ready for the total eclipse of the moon!
Two weeks earlier, atAlba of March 14thwe will admire atotal eclipse of the moonthe first great celestial show of the year. In Italy we can actually see the first part, but a plan B is already ready in this case.
The moon will be full on March 14, 2025 technically at 7.55 Italian time, when in our country, it will not be more visible as under the horizon. However, the eclipse will begin much earlier, first of all with the penumbral phaseperhaps less spectacular but not less fascinating than the real eclipse.
We will then be able to see live theStart of partial eclipseexpected at 6.09 Italian time. Unfortunately, the moon will then be under the horizon for the maximum, scheduled at 7.58 and for the term, at 11.00.
But we will still be able to connect, also in this case, to the streaming made available by Timeanda.
We mark everything on our calendar!
