It’s officially ice cream time. With the arrival of the first warm weather, the freezers of bars and supermarkets are filled with new products and this summer 2026 is particularly full of surprises. We have already told how Baci Perugina became ice cream in three versions and how Chiquita also launched itself into the world of ice cream with a banana-shaped stick filled with milk chocolate and crunchy biscuit and a bonbon ice cream.
Today it’s the turn of another novelty designed especially for the little ones: Algida’s Minecraft Ice Cream, an ice cream on a stick that transforms one of the most loved video games of all time into a summer dessert. The concept is all in the invitation from Algida herself: “Dig into the taste!”
But what’s really inside? The company advertises the new ice cream as an adventure with colorful layers of vanilla and cocoa, enriched with crunchy blue rice crispies that seem to have come straight from the world of Minecraft. Beyond the appeal of the brand, however, it is worth looking at what is actually in the list of ingredients.
The ingredients of Minecraft ice cream
These are the ingredients of the new Minecraft-inspired ice cream:
Rehydrated skimmed MILK, sugar, soluble corn fibre, fructose, coconut oil, rice flour, cocoa butter, skimmed MILK powder, LACTOSE and MILK proteins, whole MILK powder, low-fat cocoa powder (0.6%), thickeners (guar gum, locust bean gum, tara gum, acacia gum), emulsifiers (mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids, lecithins (contains SOY)), natural vanilla flavourings, concentrated spirulina, concentrated apple, coloring (chlorophylls), glucose syrup, glazing agent (shellac), salt. May contain WHEAT, ALMONDS and HAZELNUTS.
As you can see, the base is built on rehydrated skim milk, sugar and soluble corn fibre, with coconut oil as the main source of vegetable fats. Low-fat cocoa powder is only present at 0.6%, a modest percentage which explains why the taste is sweeter than intense.
The blue color of rice crispies is obtained thanks to concentrated spirulina, concentrated apple and chlorophylls, all colorings of natural origin: a choice in line with the growing attention of parents towards the ingredients of products for children.
For allergy sufferers, be careful! The product contains milk, lactose, soy and may contain wheat, almonds and hazelnuts.
The context in which this new ice cream is inserted is anything but banal. In Italy, the packaged ice cream market is worth around 1.5 billion euros and recorded an increase of 21% between 2021 and 2025. Products licensed with large franchises — video games, sweets, biscuits — have become one of the most effective tools to differentiate yourself on the shelf and capture attention in just a few seconds.
Algida’s Minecraft Ice Cream is, after all, exactly what it promises: a colourful, fun and recognizable ice cream. It doesn’t revolutionize the world of packaged ice cream, but it knows very well who it is talking to. It’s not even an experiment: the same ice cream had already been released in other European countries last summer, and the fact that it is now also arriving in Italy suggests that the test went well.
