The all-season tyres they are gaining popularity, especially in cities and areas where winters are mild or have little snowfall. The possibility of having a single set of tires capable of tackling both the hot and cold seasons attracts many motorists who perhaps want to save money, and as a result sales are growing.
But which are the best all-season tyres? This was revealed by a test conducted by TCS, the Swiss Automobile Club, which evaluated 16 all-season tire modelsall with the snowflake symbol, which qualifies them as official winter tires in both Switzerland and the EU states.
The test focused on tires in size 205/55 R16 94V, compatible with medium-low range vehicles such as VW Golf, Audi A3, Citroen C3 or C4, Hyundai i30, Renault Mégane, Skoda Octavia and Ford C-Max.
How was the analysis conducted? The experts they took into consideration 19 evaluation criteria covering performance on dry, wet and snowy surfaces, as well as considering the environmental impact of various products.
This type of tire must in fact be able to compete with summer and winter tyres, designed to be efficient in specific climatic conditions, maintaining a good balance of performance without sacrificing safety or durability.
The test results
Of the 16 models evaluated, only the Goodyear Vector 4Season Gen-3 got the rating of “very recommended” with an overall score of 62% and four stars, standing out for its reliability and versatility in the conditions tested. It is the first time that an all-season tire has received such a positive rating in this test.
Six other models achieved the “recommended” rating:
Seven are “recommended with reservations” and only 2 models are not recommended at all due to their performance considered insufficient.
