Angelina Jolie, who has been involved in humanitarian causes for years, has arrived in Kherson, one of the most dangerous Ukrainian cities, where Russian drones and artillery shells punctuate everyday life. The visit, organized in secret for security reasons, had the aim of bringing support and visibility to local healthcare facilities, in particular the children’s hospital and the maternity ward.
During the meeting, Jolie spoke with doctors and mothers, listening to their stories and checking on the conditions of the hospitalized children. His presence aroused emotion and gratitude among the healthcare personnel, who underlined how visits of this type represent not only moral help but also a message of hope for a population exhausted by the conflict.
The case of the “recruited” bodyguard
But the visit was not without twists and turns. As the star moved towards Mykolaiv, his motorcade was stopped at a checkpoint. According to local sources, the Ukrainian military detained one of his bodyguards, accusing him of irregularities in his documents and attempting to forcibly enlist him. The episode, confirmed by the regional police command, left everyone stunned, including Jolie herself, who had to personally go to the recruitment center to obtain the collaborator’s release.
According to media reports, the guard tried to explain that he was escorting an “important person”, but the message was not enough to avoid arrest. Only the direct intervention of the actress allowed the situation to be resolved quickly, preventing the misunderstanding from turning into a diplomatic incident.

It is not the first time that Angelina Jolie has put her safety at risk to show solidarity with the victims of war. Already in 2022 he visited Lviv, meeting refugees and children injured in the attack on Kramatorsk station. Then, as now, he promised to return, and he kept his word.
