April 25 in Rome 2026: everything there is to do including parades, concerts and free museums

April 25th in Rome is a day in which the city transforms, mixes memory and celebration, civil reflection and neighborhood life. From institutional ceremonies to concerts, from parks crowded with families to festivals outside the city, the offer is so wide as to require some preliminary choices. Here is a detailed map to help you orient yourself.

The official ceremonies

The institutional heart of the day beats in places that still bear the signs of that period: the Fosse Ardeatine, Porta San Paolo, the 8 September Resistance Park, the Altare della Patria. In these spaces, crown laying, guided tours with historians and witnesses and public readings take place. These are not just formal events: many are open to spontaneous participation and offer a concrete way to understand what happened in this city between 1943 and 1945.

The Garbatella Resistance Festival

From 23 to 26 April the Garbatella district hosts the Festa della Resistenza, one of the most culturally dense events. The program is spread over several days and addresses the themes of the liberation struggle through lessons, film screenings, theater performances, book presentations and round tables. There is no shortage of workshops dedicated to children, designed to bring younger generations closer to a fundamental page of republican history. April 25 is the last day, so it’s worth planning a visit in the morning so as not to miss the closing of the program.

World Earth Day at Villa Borghese

April 25 also coincides with the conclusion of the Earth Day celebrations at Villa Borghese. The Village for the Earth occupies the Galoppatoio and the Terrazza del Pincio with a free entry program that combines environmental culture and entertainment. On stage, talk shows hosted by journalists alternate with live performances by international street artists, engaged in the creation of ecologically themed works. Inside the village there is the Biodiversity Park of the Forestry Carabinieri, a Sports Village with over thirty disciplines followed by federations and associations, and a Science Village with the presence of bodies such as ESA, CNR, INAF, ENEA and ISPRA. All available without an entrance fee, making it one of the most accessible options of the day.

Museums and archaeological sites: free entry and special openings

For April 25th many city heritage sites open for free or with dedicated programs. Among the most significant are the Baths of Caracalla, sites along the Via Flaminia such as the Arch of Malborghetto and the Villa of Livia, as well as lesser-known spaces such as the Drugstore Museum. The Capitoline Superintendence and Musei in Comune organize guided tours, temporary exhibitions on the Resistance and workshops for families. It is advisable to check the times in advance, because the turnout on these days is high and some activities require reservations.

The concerts

Music accompanies the day in different parts of the city. The Parco della Musica Auditorium, the Casa del Jazz and the Brancaccio Theater offer concerts ranging from rock, popular music and repertoires linked to the history of the twentieth century. Some events are free or with reduced admission, others require tickets: it is worth checking the programming a few days in advance so as not to arrive behind closed doors.

Cinecittà World and Roma World: for those who want adrenaline

Those who prefer a day of pure fun can head towards the theme parks in the southern suburbs. Cinecittà World opens with its forty attractions distributed in seven areas inspired by the main film genres, plus six live shows a day. A few steps away is Roma World, an experience park dedicated to Ancient Rome that allows you to live a day immersed in the reconstruction of Roman life two thousand years ago. Both parks remain open for the holiday with special programs.

Outside Rome: Earth Day at the Santa Severa Castle and the Gnocchi Festival in Riofreddo

For those who want to get away from the city, there are two events not to be underestimated. At the Santa Severa Castle, overlooking the sea, Earth Day ends with a free event focused on sustainability and well-being: a market exhibition of sustainable craftsmanship, organic products, natural cosmetics, holistic operators and a children’s space with recreational-educational workshops. In Riofreddo, in the province of Rome, the Gnocchi Festival returns: from 12 in Piazzale Ricciotti Garibaldi the stands will open with gnocchi with meat sauce, kebabs, beans and bruschetta, with live entertainment from the Fire Dixie Jazz Band.

How to move without stress

Some central streets are closed for processions and ceremonies, with possible diversions of buses and trams. The most practical solution is to leave the car at the interchange car parks and reach the center by metro, tram or regional trains. For the parks on the outskirts, it is better to leave early to avoid the queues at the entrance that form in the morning.
