ArteParco returns to the Abruzzo National Park: the new installation of Velasco Vitali is a hymn to the wolf and the silence of the forest

Merge Contemporary art and uncontaminated naturein full respect of the surrounding environment. This is the sense of ArteParco, the successful initiative that is transforming the already wonderful national park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise into an equally enchanting open -air museum.

And here, for the eighth edition, in a hidden clearing, Saturday 19th July will be revealed “Stasis”the Site-Specific installation signed by Velasco Vitalione of the most intense and visionary artists on the Italian panorama, for a work inspired by the UNESCO Vituste forests that pays homage to local fauna and the Apennine wolf and invites to reflection on the balance between man and the environment.

An invitation to get lost and find yourself, what Arteparco addresses to those who travel the C1 and C2 paths.

Stasis“It’s not just a sculpture

A passage that asks us to slow down, listen, observe.

Inspired by the figure of the stylitis – ascetics that sought the spiritual elevation remaining properties on stone columns – the work reflects on the balance between immobility and transformation, between contemplation and presence. A balance today more than ever fragile, which calls into question our relationship with nature and with ourselves.

At the base, a oak trunkraw and majestic, stands as a column of time. At the top, a Apennine aluminum wolfcovered with a patina destined to change with the seasons, letting the woods complete the work. The wolf – silent sentinel, emblem of the indomitable nature – becomes a symbol of humanity in search of awareness.

The composition and the materials

THEon the basis of the work is a raw and semi -finished trunk of an oakwhich turns into a natural column. Surmounted by a capital decorated with acanthus leavesat the top stands one sculpture of a wolf Apennine, aluminum melted.

The wolf is covered with one patina which, over time, will be opacified, allowing the surrounding environment to perfect the artist’s intervention, making the work constantly changing.

Why the wolf?

The Apennine wolf is a symbol of the wild nature and, at the same time, the metaphor of the contemporary societystill on the way to a full awareness of one’s role in the world.

“Stasis” will harmoniously integrate into the landscape, offering a virtuous and significant example of Summary of art and nature.

A “Geography of the mind”as the artist calls it, in which each visitor is invited to leave his imprint, listening to the landscape and his inner connections.

With “Stasis”Arteparco continues his visionary journey: a project born from an idea of PARIDE VITALEtoday supported by important partners and by the patronage of Ministry of the Environmentwho looks at collaborations of excellence such as the one with the Maxxi.

To seal the 2025 edition, a Concert immersed in nature with Paola Turcito conclude in music a path that is artistic, spiritual and environmental together.

In an era that runs and consumes, ArteParco reminds us that there is still a space where time expands, art breathes and nature speaks to us. It is up to us to know how to listen.
