Although Marineland in Antibes has been closed to the public since January 2025, the site has become the scene of continuous illegal intrusions. Groups of young people, especially teenagers, enter clandestinely to record videos to publish on social media, particularly on TikTok. In these clips we see people getting dangerously close to the basins and trying to touch the orcas and dolphins, regardless of the risks. The park has had several incursions in the last month alone, with incidents both during the day and in the middle of the night.

A mortal danger for those who enter
The park management and the facility’s spokespersons underline that these behaviors represent a danger to life. Killer whales, although accustomed to human presence for years, remain powerful predators and can hold a person underwater even just “for fun”. The same goes for dolphins, very strong animals that can grab an arm and drag someone to the bottom. An accidental fall into the pool could turn into a tragedy in a few moments, especially at night, when visibility is minimal.
Serious risks also for animals
The problem also concerns the well-being of the cetaceans remaining in the park: 2 orcas and 12 dolphins, still awaiting transfer. Intruders risk dropping dangerous objects into the basin that animals could ingest. Marineland recalls that an orca in the park previously died after swallowing a metal fragment, an incident that shows how critical these situations are. The increasingly frequent use of drones also represents a further risk in the event of a fall.
Already eight arrests
The Antibes police confirm the increase in incidents and the extreme danger of such acts. At least eight people have been arrested since the fall, with new reports almost every week. The penalties for violating private property can reach up to 3 years in prison and a fine of 45,000 euros.
This situation demonstrates the urgency of finding a quick solution for the relocation of orcas and dolphins. Each new intrusion increases the risk of an imminent tragedy, making it necessary to act without further delay to avoid further suffering to the poor cetaceans already suffering from years of captivity.
