The Brigitte Bardot Foundation for the Protection of Animals

But if on the one hand there is the material value, on the other there remains the moral legacy, embodied by the Brigitte Bardot Foundation, created by the actress for the protection of animals. Born in the 1980s, when he had already chosen to move away from the scene, the foundation represents the most authentic synthesis of his life choice. Not a symbolic project, but a concrete mission, built day after day for the defense of animals and their rights, in France and around the world.

The Brigitte Bardot Foundation was created with the aim of combating all forms of animal abuse, abandonment and exploitation. From the beginning, Bardot has invested not only economic resources, but also her public image, using international fame to give visibility to often ignored causes. Over the years, the foundation has become one of the most authoritative and recognized animal rights organizations at European level.

Unlike many celebrity-related charities, Bardot’s foundation stands out for its solid structure and ongoing financial commitment. Its operation requires an annual budget of around 15 million euros, earmarked for shelters, awareness campaigns, legal interventions and rescue operations. Brigitte Bardot, over the years, has contributed personally, going so far as to donate goods, properties and rights in order to guarantee stability to the project.

The battle for inheritance: the crux of succession

Returning to his assets, they include film royalties, image rights, musical proceeds and commercial collaborations which continue to generate value even after his retirement from the scene. Added to these is an important real estate asset, concentrated above all in the South of France, which represents a central part of the hereditary axis.

The emotional and symbolic heart of the legacy is La Madrague, the famous villa overlooking the sea of Saint-Tropez, purchased in the 1950s and transformed over the years into an animal shelter. Its estimated value varies between 25 and 30 million euros. Alongside this property are La Garrigue, other residences in Provence and financial investments, making the succession particularly complex to manage.

According to French legislation, a part of the inheritance cannot be ignored: the so-called legitimate share. In the presence of an only child, like Nicolas-Jacques Charrier, this share is equivalent to 50% of the assets, regardless of the will.

The remaining part can instead be freely donated, and this is where the Brigitte Bardot Foundation comes into play, to which the actress had already donated part of her assets. The relationship between Brigitte Bardot and her son Nicolas has been marked by distance and conflicts, a fragile bond that could now be reflected in a real legal battle.
