With the arrival of autumn the woods of Valtellina are filled with a unique and powerful sound: the bramit of the deer. This verse, followed by fights between males, marks the beginning of the reproductive period and recalls passionate and curious every year. However, the growing presence of cars and people risks compromising this delicate moment, disturbing animals and also putting safety on mountain roads at risk.
The traffic closing order
To prevent the search for naturalistic emotions from becoming a danger, the mayor of Chiuro, Tiziano Maffezzini, has decided to intervene with a targeted measure that focuses on the protection of wildlife. Chiuro’s ordinance represents an important precedent for Valtellina and Valchiavenna, where it is the first time that a municipality introduces a measure of this type. An act that combines respect for natural balances and attention to safety, demonstrating how local administrations and citizens can coexist with fauna more responsible.
