Christmas in the heat? Not for everyone: what you can do for those living on the streets in Rome

With the arrival of the winter cold and the approach of the Christmas holidays, Caritas of Rome launches an urgent appeal to citizens and parish communities: blankets and sleeping bags are needed for homeless people living in the capital.

In these days when many are preparing to spend Christmas in the warmth of their homes, hundreds of people will face the freezing nights on the streets. The cold temperatures represent a real danger for their survival. A blanket or sleeping bag may seem like an obvious item, but for those who sleep outdoors they really make the difference between life and death.

The volunteers of the Itinerant Night Service are ready to distribute the collected material, offering immediate support to those who need it most. It is a simple but fundamental gesture, a concrete way to give a sense of solidarity to Christmas and protect those who live in extremely fragile conditions.

How to donate: Blankets and sleeping bags (clothing is not accepted) can be delivered every day, from 8am to 10pm, at the “Don Luigi Di Liegro” Hostel in via Marsala 109, Rome.

Every donation, even the smallest, can make people who spend the winter on the streets feel less alone and give them hope of overcoming the cold of these nights.
