On 8 April at 2.00 pm the window to submit the application for participation in the Universal Civil Service, the program of the Department for Youth Policies aimed at young people between 18 and 28, closes. There are 65,964 places available, distributed over a period of between 8 and 12 months, with a commitment of 25 hours per week (variable, there are different formulas) and an expense reimbursement of 519.47 euros per month.
The application must be submitted exclusively online, on the firmaonline.serviziocivile.it platform, with SPID or electronic identity card. Those who have already carried out civil service in the past, those who work or have collaborated with the host organization for more than three months in the previous year cannot participate.
Parks and protected areas: hundreds of places available
Among the most interesting opportunities for those who care about the environment, the Parks and Villages network offers 150 places in Lazio on six projects, distributed among the regional parks of Monti Lucretili, Simbruini and Castelli Romani. The activities range from path maintenance to wildlife monitoring, from environmental education in schools to welcoming visitors.
The PNALM – the National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise – offers 20 places, distributed across two projects: one dedicated to scientific dissemination and environmental education, the other to coexistence between local communities and the Marsican brown bear. In the protected areas of the Piedmont Po, 5 positions are open to collaborate on environmental monitoring and mapping of areas at risk.
Lipu: 42 places in wildlife recovery centers
Those who want to work directly with animals can look at Lipu’s offer. The association participates with the “Ecosentinelle: Young custodians of Biodiversity” project, which provides 42 places distributed in seven wildlife recovery centers: Vicchio (FI), Tigliole (AT), Bologna, Corleone (PA), Magenta (MI), Rome and Livorno. The project lasts 12 months and aims to counteract the loss of biodiversity through the protection of wildlife and raising awareness among the population.
Legambiente: environmental education throughout Italy
Legambiente is also present with multiple projects on a national scale. Legambiente Campania proposes “Youth for the environment 2026”, twelve months dedicated to awareness campaigns, river monitoring with Schooner of the Rivers, beach cleaning, workshops in schools and projects on renewable energy and energy communities. In Tuscany, Legambiente Festambiente carries out “SOSTE 2026”, in the province of Grosseto, with a focus on the climate crisis, protection of the sea, the fight against plastics and sustainable territorial development. Legambiente Umbria participates with the “#YOUTHINACTION2026” project, dedicated to environmental education and promotion with offices in Perugia, Spoleto, Amelia and Terni.
