Disney releases the first image of the live-action “Lilo & Stitch”: when the remake of the film will arrive in cinemas

Disney is ready to launch in May 2025 the long awaited live action by Lilo & Stitcha modern remake of the famous 2002 animated classic. The film, which tells the original story of the friendship between Lilo, a Hawaiian girl, and Stitch, the alien who has escaped the control of the galaxy, promises to bring big screen a new adaptation of the story which fascinated spectators from all over the world.

The plot will faithfully follow that of the animated film with Lilo who, meeting Stitch, discovers a faithful and loyal frienda fundamental bond to overcome the sense of loneliness and rebuild a solid family relationship.

Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp and produced by Jonathan Eirich and Dan Lin, the live-action features a cast made up of Maia Kealoha in the role of Lilo and Chris Sanders, who returns to voice Stitch, the small but tenacious alien creature. Alongside them, Sydney Elizabeth Agudong, Billy Magnussen, Tia Carrere, Courtney B. Vance and Zach Galifianakis star.

Disney continues its strategy of revisiting its great classics in a live-action key

During the D23 Expo in Brazil, Disney shared an image which finally allows us to see Stitch in a scene set in Lilo’s bedroom. In this photo, Stitch appears with a wreath of flowers around his neck, a she traditional Hawaiian symbolizing welcome.

The shot allows you to observe closely the accuracy with which the alien’s blue fur and its shades were created, confirming that the production team has kept the aesthetic essence of the original character intact. Around him, they are noticed typical objects from Lilo’s roomsuch as cushions, puppets, drawings of constellations and an upside-down lamp, elements that recall the lively and chaotic style of the little girl.

Disney is banking on this remake to win over a new generation of viewers, taking advantage of a combination of nostalgia for loyal audiences and the appeal of CGI to create a modern and engaging viewing experience.
