Do you have an old trunk? From coffee tables to sofas, I’ll explain how to reuse it to furnish your home

You have a old trunk forgotten in the attic that you don’t know what to do with? If you love vintage style, it’s time to bring it back to light and give it a new life. If it is in poor condition there are different ways to renovate it, while if it is beautiful and intact it will take a moment to fit it into your home. Here are some DIY ideas for reusing it in a creative way.

Storage unit

The first creative reuse of the old trunk is simple and practical: first of all you will have to clean it and cover it internally with special adhesive paper, unless you want to try your hand at decoupage.

Once ready, place it upright and insert custom-made shelves, creating support surfaces at various heights. Place it in your favorite room using it as a wardrobe. It is perfect in the bedroom or study.

If you want, you can add drawers or small compartments for ties, socks, belts and other accessories.

Living room furniture

Another nice idea, one of those simple but certainly effective, consists in transforming the old trunk into a living room furniture. If you don’t like its color, we recommend that you paint it. Add some feet and place it in a strategic corner.

In this capacity it is also perfect as a shelf for books.

Sofa

Do you want to overdo it? Transform the trunk into an indoor or outdoor sofa. Get a custom-made mattress, place it on top of the trunk and add some matching cushions.

Table

Otherwise, you can convert the trunk into a nice coffee table: clean it up and place it directly in the living room. If you prefer, you can place a custom-made wooden covering on top, which is beautiful to look at and useful for protecting it.
