Today Jacuzzi evokes images of relaxation, spa and exclusive comfort, but its origin sinks in a personal story made of pain, ingenuity and tenacity. In the United States of the Second World War, the Italian Jacuzzi family, emigrated from Friuli to California, is known for talent in engineering.
But it will be a father, Candido Jacuzzi, to give life to the invention that will change the concept of domestic well -being. Everything stems from the disease of Candido’s son, Ken Jacuzzi, who is hit by youthful rheumatoid arthritis at the age of only two years.
A heavy diagnosis, which forces the child to live with severe joint pain. Doctors recommend hydrotherapy sessions, but for a worker family, frequent movements in the hospital are economically and logistically unsustainable.
The first Casalinga whirlpool pump
Candido does not give up. He decides to find a solution at home and create the J-300an immersion pump to be installed in a normal bathtub. This invention allows Ken to receive therapeutic treatments without leaving the house. It is a gesture of love transformed into life -saving technology, capable of visibly improving the quality of life of the child.
For years, the J-300
It remains a medical device. But in the sixties, his nephew Roy Jacuzzi senses the potential of the project. It adds directional vents, improves design and changes narrative: from health tool to pleasure experience. Thus was born the whirlpool as we know it today, soon becoming an object of desire all over the world.
Behind every tank with soft bubbles and lights, there is still the beat of that story: a father who does not surrender, a son who smiles again, an invention born from necessity and not from the market. Jacuzzi is today a symbol of global well -being, but it should not be forgotten that it all started with a simple and powerful idea: take care of those who love each other.
