At Christmas, bring a touch of magic to the windows of your home with chalk markers, they are easy to use and allow you to personalize the windows in a unique and original way. You don’t need large windows, even a small window can be enhanced by a beautiful design. Here’s how to proceed and some ideas to draw inspiration from.
How to draw with chalk markers
Erasable liquid chalk markers can be used to draw on windows without worrying about damaging them. Although they are precise in line and clearly visible, compared to other markers (such as permanent ones) they can be erased with a damp cloth or detergent. The most classic ones are white, but are also available in other shades.
Ideas for stained glass windows
From gingerbread houses to forest animals, here are some Christmas stained glass designs to inspire you.
As you can see, even the simplest designs are able to enhance the windows.
Always remember to choose the subject to reproduce not only based on your tastes, but also on the size of the windows. If they are small and vertically developed, a landscape may not be adequate.
However, consider that you can also “suggest” a landscape by placing various elements along the window: an animal at the bottom, a few trees and gifts here and there, the mountains above, scattered leaves and snowflakes. Play with your imagination!
Even a twig sticking out from a corner creates suggestion.
If you don’t feel like creating stencils with your own hands, you can help yourself with prints. Stick them on the window with washi tape (which does not damage the glass) and use them as a template.
Naturally, the simpler the subjects, the easier it will be to reproduce them on glass.
