From China to Italy, passing through an idea destined to revolutionize urban mobility: one hydrogen bicycle capable of traveling up to 60 kilometers with a “full” obtained using just 400 ml of waterwithout battery, without electricity, without lithium. The novelty has a name: Hyryd Sport Bike 1.0and marks the debut of light hydrogen mobility even in the cycle sector.
It is the Chinese company Youon To sign this technology, a group already active in micromability and now also in the automotive in hydrogen sector. In Italy the project takes shape thanks to RemoteTrentino reality engaged for years in inclusive and sustainable mobility, which has chosen to invest in this new frontier of light transport.
The heart of the system is one 300 Watt fuel cell powered by hydrogen. No battery to recharge at the socket: to obtain the energy just use the appropriate domestic kit supplied together with the bike, which uses tap water to produce green hydrogen. In five hours, 400 ml of water are sufficient to generate 40 grams of gas, stored in a low pressure cartridge (10 atmospheres), easily replaceable.
Once mounted in the frame, the cartridge powers the 180 W Brushless engine integrated into the rear hub. The result is an autonomy of about 50-60 kilometers with pedal assisted, without any type of polluting emission.
Price and prospects
The price is not for everyone: 4,800 euros More VAT, including the kit for the production of domestic hydrogen. An important figure, which however finds justification in the technology used and in the target to which it turns. “We think about private individuals at the environment, but also of companies that could replace the electric bikes of fleets with hydrogen models, possibly installing dedicated charging stations,” he explains Andrea TomasoniPresident and CEO of Remove.
