In the income park of Brugherio, a former agricultural area and excavation transformed into green lung, the second is born Biodiversity Lab of the province of Monza and Brianza. An initiative resulting from the collaboration between E.on And Climate networkwhich already in 2024 had given birth to a project similar to Giussano. The goal? Restore and enhance biodiversity through innovative and multifunctional solutions, transforming a natural area into a laboratory of good environmental practices.
Green technologies for a richer ecosystem
The Biodiversity Lab in Brugherio stands out for the creation of a Bioforesta high density urban forest inspired by the Miyawaki method, capable of accelerate the growth of plants And Improve CO2 absorption. Next to it, the Bugs Hotel, wooden shelters designed for host pollinating insectsand floating biostuoie, which favor the growth of aquatic plants and the renaturalization of lake environments.
Another solution adopted is cariceto, a wet area consisting of herbaceous plants that also resists drought periods, demonstrating how nature can be resilient if adequately supported. To complete the project, one Flower stripa flourishing strip that promotes the reproduction of pollinating insects and enriches the landscape with a touch of color.
A project with an environmental and social value
The initiative is part of the largest Boschi E.on program and the National Foresta Italia Forest Campaign, promoted by the Climate Rete with the support of Coldiretti and the Ministry of the Environment. The value of the project is not limited to the environmental aspect: according to theSROOD Analysis (Social Return on Investment), every euro invested in the plantation of trees generates about three euros of overall benefits, between improvement of air quality, development of sustainable tourism and local economic growth.
Towards a sustainable future
The creation of the Biodiversity Lab represents a concrete response to climate change and to the Loss of biodiversitywith a positive impact not only on ecosystems, but also on the local community. As pointed out by the mayor of Brugherio, Roberto Assi, the project is part of a path of enhancement of the income park, particularly affected by the extreme climatic events of 2023.
