A man who drastically changed his diet from limiting himself to red meat and eggs has revealed the impacts it has had on his weight and overall health.
Patrick Ensley and his wife Caitlynn decided to do an experiment on themselves, i.e become carnivores at a time when Patrick’s weight was approximately 136 kg.
In an interview, Patrick said:
I woke up several times during the night. I woke up in the morning; even if I had slept 10 hours, I would just wake up wanting to sleep.
But that’s not all, because Patrick found himself out of breath only after climbing a flight of stairs and said he felt like a “prisoner” in his own body because he was “so big, heavy and unhealthy”.
How Patrick changed his diet
He decided to adopt a diet that involved eating a 16-ounce steak, a pound of ground beef and a half-dozen eggs every day.
To avoid temptation, he removed all non-carnivorous items from his home and developed an eating plan to avoid excessive snacking. If he snacked, foods included things like homemade meatballs, pork rinds, string cheese, beef jerky, salami and peppers.
What impacts has the carnivore diet had?
A year later, Patrick’s life has changed completely. He lost 63 kg and 48 cm on his stomach; he has better quality sleep and wakes up feeling “refreshed, full of energy” and no longer in pain.
Even after the first month or two, I noticed a huge change in my mood, ambition and positivity. I felt better mentally almost immediately.
