Esselunga recalls Norwegian smoked salmon: it may contain Listeria, brand and batch not to be consumed

Esselunga has reported a recall featuring Norwegian smoked salmon from the Luxury Selection line, distributed under the Food from the World brand. The initiative is part of the prevention measures necessary when there is the possibility of contamination by pathogens, in this case by Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium responsible for serious foodborne infections.

It is therefore important to provide detailed information on the product, its origin and some recommendations for consumers who may have purchased it.

Full details of the recalled salmon

The recall concerns a specific batch of Norwegian smoked salmon from the Luxury Selection line under the Food from the World brand, sold in Esselunga supermarkets. These are 250 gram packs, identified by the batch number 485116 and with an expiry date of 28 December 2025.

The salmon in question was produced in Poland by the Koral SA company, in the factory located in Ustronie Morskie, KoĊ‚obrzeg County, West Pomeranian Voivodeship. The indication of the identification mark PL32081801 allows the origin and production chain to be traced precisely.

As already announced, the precautionary measure was necessary due to the possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause serious health problems, particularly in immunosuppressed people, the elderly, pregnant women and young children.

Listeria is known to survive even at low temperatures and can contaminate smoked and packaged foods, which is why timely controls and recalls are essential.

The alert is limited to this specific batch, therefore it does not concern other products of the same brand or other smoked salmon. The recall was communicated directly by supermarkets through visible notices and through official consumer information channels.

Recommendations for consumers

The authorities and the company itself recommend not consuming smoked salmon belonging to the reported batch. Anyone who purchased the product can return it to the point of sale, without the need for a receipt. Furthermore, for any clarifications or additional information, you can contact the company directly on 039 9669930.
