We can now say it: Italy dominated the European Fencing Championships, which took place in Anthony (France) from June 16th to 21st. At the end of the competition, the gold medal also arrived in the men’s team foil, with Guillaume Bianchi, Filippo Macchi, Tommaso Marini, And Giulio Lombardiwho defeated hosts France in the final with a clear score of 45 to 28. And with this victory, Italy also took first place in the medal table.
Overall, these European Championships saw us on the podium in almost all possible disciplines, individual and team, with (almost) obvious victories but also wonderful surprises.
In the men’s epee even the double arrived: gold both in the individual, with Simone Mencarelliboth in teams with the dream team and Davide Di Veroli, Matteo Galassi, Andrea Santarelli and (again) Simone Mencarelli.
In foil then, what can we say? We are truly kings and queens of Europe, with both the women’s and men’s teams winning gold medals.

An incredible journey has consecrated our boys:
- quarter-finals dominated against Great Britain (45-18)
- thrilling semi-final, the only one that was a bit difficult, against AIN, won 45-43 with the decisive strike by Guillaume Bianchi
- perfect final against hosts France, overcome with a clear 45-22

The gold in the men’s foil also consecrated Italy to first place in the medal table. In fact, hosts France, who came second, won a greater number of medals, but the last gold – we can say – was the winning thrust.
We are proud of you!
