The Sicilian Region reopens the terms to support businesses brought to their knees by the extreme weather events of last January. With a new decree signed by the general manager of the Productive Activities department, Dario Cartabellotta, the window for requesting extraordinary contributions intended for companies damaged by Cyclone Harry is once again active.
The provision particularly concerns businesses in coastal and seaside areas, among the most affected by the violent storms that affected the island (but also Calabria and Sardinia) between 19 and 21 January. The objective is to accelerate economic support and facilitate access to funds, reducing bureaucratic obstacles to a minimum.
How to submit applications
New applications can be submitted starting from 12pm on Wednesday 25 March until 12pm on Friday 10 April 2026. The procedure is exclusively electronic and must be carried out through the dedicated platform of the Sicilian Region. Compared to the ordinary criteria, this second window also maintains a simplified approach: verification of contributory regularity is not required nor is a technical assessment of the damages drawn up by a professional. A self-certification by the company will be sufficient, a choice designed to speed up the provision of aid in an emergency phase.
The numbers of the first tranche confirm the urgency and scope of the intervention. So far, over 7 million euros have been disbursed to 381 companies deemed eligible, affected both by Cyclone Harry and by other calamitous events that affected the Sicilian territory in the same period. The reopening of the deadlines therefore represents a further opportunity for companies that were unable to submit an application or are still assessing the damage suffered.
