Ferragosto 2025 will be dominated by the African anticyclone Caronte, which will keep its control over the Mediterranean, guaranteeing serene skies and high temperatures on most of Italy. The hot air of subtropical origin will bring values beyond the seasonal average, with peaks up to 40 ° C in the Puglia Tavoliere.
The most hot areas will be the plains of the North, Tuscany, Lazio, Puglia and the major islands, where they will register 36-38 ° C. In the cities of Turin, Milan, Bologna, Florence and Rome, the thermometer will remain permanently above 36 ° C, with tropical and minimum nights hardly under 25 ° C in urban centers.
Where the sun will be the protagonist
The day will start everywhere with clear skies or just a few glazing in the center-south. The coasts of the central Adriatic, the Po Valley and the internal areas of Sicily and Sardinia will live a morning from the full summer, ideal for outdoor activities. The seas will be calm or not very moved, with weak winds and local breezes.
Rains and thunderstorms: the areas at risk
Despite the dominance of the heat, the atmosphere will not be completely stable. In the afternoon, more unstable currents at altitude will be able to trigger heat thunderstorms on Alps and Prealps, with possible hailstorms located in Piedmont, Lombardy and Trentino-Alto Adige.
At the center-south, temporal phenomena will be able to develop on the internal areas of the lower Lazio, along the central-southern Apennines, in Calabria, in the internal areas of Sardinia and in the eastern ones of Sicily. The rainfall will be short but intense, sometimes accompanied by gusts of wind and hail in the most affected areas.
Post-Ferragosto weekend: first signs of change
The next weekend could mark the beginning of a more unstable phase: while the North and part of the center will keep hot and sun, some regions of the South will see even intense showers. The cooler air will begin to undermine the last African flames, bringing a gradual thermal drop and greater weather variability.
