In Milan, a new tactical urbanism intervention signed by the Jungle Agency, located in front of the entrance of the Franceschi Comprehensive Institute in via Emanuele Muzio, comes to life in Milan. The pavement work extends over 1,700 square meters, transforming a road previously dominated by car traffic into a safe and lively pedestrian space, designed for children, families and school community. The official inauguration took place during the end -of -school end party, but the area is already ready to welcome students and students with the beginning of the new school year.
The project was born from the will of the Municipality of Milan to recover public spaces and return them to citizenship in a recreational and sustainable key. After a first structural intervention that intended for part of the road to pedestrian traffic, Jungle has created a second phase of transformation thanks to an innovative visual concept, developed in collaboration with Act and Studio Wok.
The use of color is not only aesthetic: the area is treated with Pureti®, a photocatalytic system capable of reducing pollution and fine dust, generating oxygen in quantity equivalent to a medium -stem tree, exploiting only the energy of sunlight.
Public spaces for children and community
The initiative demonstrates how the creative use of public space can combine security, sustainability and city participation. These interventions contribute to building districts to measure people, in particular of the little ones.
Protected and colorful spaces thus become places where boys and girls can play, socialize and grow, strengthening the sense of community and promoting a more accessible, just and democratic Milan.
With this sustainable urban redevelopment project, a replicable model is therefore proposed in front of other schools and confirming how the urban design attentive to citizens can radically transform the quality of life into cities.
