Some time ago we told you about “Waste to Wear”, the Heineken South Africa project born to give new life to the discarded glass bottles, transforming them into objects for the home and fashion accessories, including splendid chandeliers. The glass bottles, with their shapes and colors, are very suitable for creative recycling, but seeing them becoming real lamps is something surprising! Do you want to try? Here is a selection of DIY ideas from which to draw inspiration.
Chandelier with colored bottles
Do you want to make a design chandelier with your own hands? Let yourself be inspired by the Martha Stewart tutorial: it drives you step by step in the cutting of the bottles and in the insertion of cables and bulbs, to create a unique, sustainable and effective lamp.
Table lamps
Do you prefer a table lamp? The blog tutorial “Vicky Myers Creations” explains to you all the steps needed to create this little masterpiece. It is not too difficult, but surely a minimum of ability with DIY is essential.
Of course you can customize the lamp to your liking, using the type of bottle and the lampshade you prefer.
As you can see, any bottle adapts to the purpose and also the processing is similar: the final result changes.
Of course you can also decorate the bottle in different ways, adding for example the thin rope, or embellishing it with the stencils.
And if you know how to paint well, you may even turn it into a romantic “painting”.
Or even decorate it with the technique of decoupage, gluing on the glass shelves of paper, passing over another hand of glue to create a protective film.
