From Rome to Catania, a human tide for Gaza and Flotilla: it is not a simple strike, it is a people who rebel against horror

If Israel blocks the Global Sumud Flotilla, Italy stops. No sooner said than done. After the great spontaneous mobilization of the past few hours, taken for the bordering and arrest of activists, it is the moment of the general strike. In the squares of the whole country a tide invokes the end of the genocide to Gaza. The horror must end, we can no longer be accomplices. From north to south, tens of thousands of citizens responded to the call. Italy knows which side to stay on: on the right side of history and humanity.

In the streets and squares, students, families, professionals, retirees, activists, parties and trade unions have been poured out. All united for the same cause. The images that come from cities such as Rome, Turin, Naples and Catania show the most beautiful and human face of our nation.

Both in Turin and Milan there are about 100 thousand to protest, while in Rome at least 60 thousand.

Italy mobilizes against the genocide and complicity of the political class

And no, it is not a strike or any manifestation. It is the demonstration that when human rights are trampled on, when the limit of the imaginable is exceeded, the Italian people do not remain to look at.

Faced with this immense mobilization, it is desolant to note that more than someone continues to argue that it is “all exploited” and that “is the cause of the left” or even feel said by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni – which should represent all Italians – that the strike would be only a pretext to make a “long weekend”.

In the meantime, in the Mediterranean two new floats, a match from Italy with doctors and journalists on board and one with over 40 ships sailed from Turkey, are browsing Gaza’s direction and will try to break the naval block imposed by Israel since 2009.

No, the mission started by the Global Sumud Flotilla was not a failure. And the answer in the squares of the world is proof of this.
