Goodbye to Peppe Vessicchio, the master of Italian music passed away at the age of 69

Serious mourning in the world of music: Peppe Vessicchio died today at the age of 69. The famous conductor and arranger died in the afternoon at the San Camillo hospital in Rome.

In an official note, the health management communicated:

“Master Giuseppe Vessicchio passed away today in the intensive care unit due to interstitial pneumonia which progressed very quickly. The family, deeply saddened, requests maximum confidentiality. The funeral will be held in a strictly private manner.”

A figure much loved by the public, Vessicchio was considered an absolute point of reference in the Italian musical panorama. Conductor, composer, arranger and television face, he was able to conquer transversal affection thanks to his talent and his discreet irony.

Born in Naples on 17 March 1956, he began collaborating with big names such as Gino Paoli, Edoardo Bennato and Peppino di Capri, writing songs that left their mark on Italian pop music, such as “I’ll leave you a song” And “What will I do when I grow up”.

His long history with the Sanremo Festival is unforgettable, where he was the protagonist for decades. He has conducted the orchestra in countless editions, winning four times: with Avion Travel in 2000, with Alexia in 2003, with Valerio Scanu in 2010 and with Roberto Vecchioni in 2011.

During his career he has collaborated with artists such as Andrea Bocelli, Zucchero, Elio e le Storie Tese, Ornella Vanoni, Ron and Biagio Antonacci, ranging between genres and styles with a unique naturalness. Lately he had been working on a new theater project, “Here I meet the soul”which was supposed to debut next year alongside Ron.

With his baton, kind smile and absolute competence, Peppe Vessicchio leaves a huge void in Italian music.
