From 1 January 2026, Vodafone Italia and Fastweb merged into a single company. Once the merger by incorporation of Vodafone Italia into Fastweb has been completed, approved by the respective shareholders’ meetings, from now on the name Fastweb SpA will be used exclusively, abandoning the previous Fastweb + Vodafone.
The birth of the Italian giant
The operation arises from the acquisition of Vodafone Italia by Swisscom (owner of Fastweb), announced on 15 March 2024. After having obtained all the necessary authorizations – from the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (golden power) to the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy, from the Swiss Federal Competition Commission to the European Commission, up to the Communications Regulatory Authority and the Competition and Market Guarantor Authority – the transaction was concluded on 31 December 2024.
The Fastweb + Vodafone company was operational from 1 January 2025, starting the integration process. Today, with the effective merger, the main Italian infrastructure operator with impressive numbers is born:
What changes (and what doesn’t) for customers
For consumers practically nothing. The contracts remain unchanged, as do the economic conditions in force. The only significant change concerns the processing of personal data: for all customers, including Vodafone ones, the data controller becomes Fastweb SpA
Commercial brands remain: Fastweb, Vodafone and I. will continue to be used on the market. The brand I have. it is now owned by Fastweb (after the incorporation of VEI Srl into Vodafone Italia on 31 December 2025), while the Vodafone brand is licensed for a maximum of 5 years.

The merger therefore represents a purely corporate change, with the long-term objective of creating a single convergent operator that unites Fastweb’s fixed network and Vodafone Italia’s mobile network.
