“Green eyes”: Greenpeace launches a project for the little guardians of the planet, how to participate and download the game

Looking at the earth with wonder, respecting it and learning to take care of it from an early age. It is with this objective that Greenpeace Italy has presented “green eyes”, its first educational project entirely designed for girls and boys between 5 and 9 years old.

An initiative that was born in a crucial moment: more and more young people feel worried about the climatic crisis and ask for tools to act, not just words.

Green eyes“It is also the name of the protagonist who accompanies small explorers and adults on a journey between forests, seas, biodiversity and climate, through a series of monthly missions. Each stage offers simple but engaging activities: practical experiences, games and challenges that help children know nature and understand how to protect it in everyday life.

The adventures of the young heroine take shape in illustrated paper collections with certified sustainable materials. A way to educate without giving up wonder and creativity.

Aware children, but with few answers

According to a research published on MDPI, 93% of children and young people are aware of climate change, and 6 out of 10 say they are worried. The girls are often more anxious, the little ones express intense emotions, while the biggest ask for concrete actions.

Doctors and pediatricians confirm that the effects of the climatic crisis on the youngest are already visible: respiratory problems related to pollution, thermal stress, consequences on nutrition and mental health.

In this context, the need for active environmental education grows, which is not only made of frontal lessons but of experienced and shared experiences. “Green eyes” was born exactly to fill this void.

Paper and digital to learn together

The project combines physical and digital tools. In the face of a minimum donation of 11 euros per month, every three months families receive a paper educational kit with stories, games and activities to explore natural environments and learn concrete gestures of care.

At the same time, new online content are offered every month: quiz, insights and additional missions to make the experience dynamic and continuous.

Neuroscience underlines the importance of physical reading and manual writing in the cognitive development of children: for this reason Greenpeace has chosen not to give up the paper, but integrate it into a modern and engaging path.

Cultivate the culture of care today

Chiara champion, executive director of Greenpeace Italy, explains the vision of the project:
«We want to give adults concrete tools to tell children what it means to take care of the planet. Environmental education does not only concern the future, but the present. The little ones have careful looks and a long future in front: sensitizing them today means building a culture of care capable of generating change already now ».

How to participate

With “green eyes” Greenpeace combines both physical and digital content: with a minimum donation of 11 euros per month here (or 132 euros per year), every three months participants will be able to receive a paper pack with educational materials to accompany children in the discovery of natural environments and encourage them to make concrete gestures of care, games to teach sustainable behaviors to be shared with others and stories on the nature, Monthly appointment that will enrich the experience by giving them new challenges, quizzes and insights.
