Histamine beyond limits, In’s recalls frozen tuna fillets: here is the batch not to be consumed

The discount chain of the Pam group has withdrawn its branded frozen tuna fillets from the shelves Select Plusthe reason concerns the possible presence of histamine in quantities greater than what is permitted by law.

The recalled product

The affected lot is 14714720726, sold in packs of 250 grams with a minimum shelf life of 31 December 2027. The fillets were produced by I. Schroeder KG (GmbH & Co.) in the Kramer Fish factory in Urk, the Netherlands, at number 1 Middelgrondon.

The chain would like to point out that the recall concerns only that lot. Packages with a different code are not affected.

Why was the recall triggered?

Histamine accumulates in fish stored at the wrong temperatures, and tuna is among the most exposed species. In high doses it causes scombroid syndrome, an intoxication that resembles an allergic reaction and manifests itself with facial redness, headache, nausea and intestinal disorders, often shortly after a meal. In’s notice does not report the values found nor does it mention cases of illness. In recent months there have been several cases of histamine contained in various food products, including anchovy and tuna fillets.

What to do if you bought it

In’s invites customers not to consume the product and to bring it back to the point of sale, where it will be possible to obtain a replacement of the product, or a full refund.
