The snacks and snacks are undoubtedly practical, comfortable and tasty, but often their sugar content is underestimated, especially when children consume them. For example, let’s think of the Kinder Bueno, of which perhaps you have never carefully observed the label. Instead, the nutritionist Lorenzo Bellini did it, who published a video on Instagram in which he shows, equipped with Libra, how much sugar is really found in a pack of the popular snack.
In the video, Bellini examines two bars, that is, the entire packaging, and underlines an important detail: the labels always report the values for 100 grams of product, but it is also essential to consider the real portion that is consumed. In the case of the Kinder Bueno, the package contains two pieces, while on the label the values of the portion refer to a single bar, making the quantity of sugar actually assumed lower.
Weighing the entire package, Bellini shows that it contains 19 grams of sugar. To contextualize, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), the maximum recommended limit of free sugars is about 50 grams per day for adults (10% of the daily calorie intake) and, for children, the maximum limit is around 20 and 25 grams per day, depending on age and caloric needs. In other words, eating an entire pack of Kinder Bueno means taking almost all the daily quantity of sugars recommended for a child.
A data to reflect on, don’t you think?
