I am a nutritionist and this is the best flavored water against water retention (you can drink it every day)

During the summer when it is very hot we have to ensure the right hydration by increasing water consumption. But are there other drinks suitable for cooling down and purifying us? We asked “our” nutritionist.

Drinking a lot of water is one of the secrets to stay healthy and remain young for longer. Generally, especially in summer, it is recommended to drink at least 2 liters of water per day, this is because with the heat you have greater losses of liquids and minerals.

However, this does not mean that we must reach 2 liters only and exclusively with water. But what can we drink? We must certainly try to avoid packaged drinks such as cold tea or fruit juices rich in sugars. We can then orient ourselves on the detox waters as the nutritionist Flavio Pettossi suggests.

Especially in summer, seasonal fruits and vegetables, watermelon, lettuce, tomato, courgette, fishing, melon, red fruits), which have a water content, on average, of 80-90% (cucumber, richer food contains 96.7%, lettuce, celery and watermelon, 95%, tomato 94.3%) are Flavored which, thanks to the beneficial properties of the substances contained in the fruit and vegetables used to flavor, improve our metabolism and help the immune system. The flavored waters originate in America where they are very popular with the name of Detox Water. Detox toilet represent any water infusion that helps to eliminate the toxins accumulated in our body and improve our health.

With what ingredients do they prepare?

The main ingredient is obviously the water: to this are added several ingredients depending on the lens you want to achieve or the problems you want to solve. Usually the ingredients that can be used are fruit, vegetables, vegetables, spices and aromas (turmeric, ginger, mint, basil, etc.) and based on the basic nutritional properties we would have different effects: detoxifying, refreshing, draining, antioxidant etc.

How do they prepare?

Preparing the flavored waters is really simple, just pour the cold water (usually 1L) in a carafe and add all the ingredients chosen. For a greater escape of the nutrients, fruit, vegetables and vegetables that we add must be slightly crushed. At this point we put our water in the refrigerator for at least 4-5 hours (they can also leave for more time depending on the intensity of the taste that we want more time passes and more obviously the aroma will be intense). You can then drink water directly with fresh fruit or filter it.

Dr. Pettirossi recommends in particular in particular flavored water for detox and water retention.

Detox water for water retention

The ingredients to use are: watermelon, berries and mint. Watermelon contains 90% of water, for this reason it is very useful to reintegrate the losses that are in summer with the high temperatures, it also has the ability to regenerate the tissues of our body thanks to the stimulation of the growth hormone which, in synergy with insulin, contributes to normalizing the levels of glucose in the blood and is therefore useful for the control of blood sugar. In the watermelon there is also the amino acid citrulline which is converted into arginine that protects the brain and contributes to the maintenance of the physical form. The berries (blueberries, raspberries, currants) are a concentrate of potassium CE vitamin and useful antioxidants in case of hypertension, water retention, rheumatism, liver and cardiovascular diseases. Finally, the mint, thanks to its content in menthol promotes correct digestion, eliminates intestinal gases and promotes appetite.

Recipe

Here’s how to prepare the flavored water of Dr. Pettirossi: in a 1-liter carafe pour cold water, add 200g of cubes cut into cubes, a handful of mixed berries (blueberries, raspberries, currants) and 4-5 fresh mint leaves. Lightly crush the fruit with a spoon to encourage the release of nutrients, mix gently and leave to rest in the refrigerator for at least 4-5 hours. For a more intense effect, you can leave it in infusion all night. Consume this drink over the day, preferably far from the main meals. You can keep it in the refrigerator for a maximum of 2 days, adding ice when serving for an even more refreshing effect.
