If you love Franco Battiato, don’t miss this great exhibition on his creative universe (between music, painting and cinema)

A journey that goes beyond the boundaries of sound and chronology to restore the portrait of a complete author, capable of moving naturally between song, musical research, poetry, philosophical reflection and intellectual commitment. The exhibition “Franco Battiato. Another life”, on display at the MAXXI – National Museum of 21st Century Arts in Rome from 31 January to 26 April 2026, will accompany visitors into the many artistic lives of Franco Battiato, highlighting a broad and coherent vision, capable of spanning different styles, expressive languages and eras.

The path takes shape around a central space dedicated to listening, designed as the narrative fulcrum of the entire experience. Here sound becomes living matter and a starting point for exploring the artist’s creative universe. The other sections of the exhibition branch out from this nucleus, where album covers, vintage posters, photographs and rare objects will compose a layered story, capable of restoring the complexity of a musician who profoundly changed Italian song.

Alongside his musical production, other fundamental dimensions of his career emerge. The exhibition will give space to an intense pictorial imagery, crossed by symbols and references to the Middle Eastern world, and to cinematographic research which, especially in more recent years, has represented a privileged tool for expressing artistic and spiritual reflections. A path that maintains a constant link with the musical matrix and that openly dialogues with the present.

The exhibition was born from the co-production of the Ministry of Culture and MAXXI – National Museum of the Arts of the 21st Century, with the collaboration of the Franco Battiato ETS Foundation. The organization is entrusted to COR Create Organize Realize by Alessandro Nicosia.
