In Cuneo an exhibition for the 80th birthday of Pippi Longstocking: a journey into the universe of Astrid Lindgren

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the birth of Pippi Longstocking, the exhibition was inaugurated in Cuneo on Friday 3 October “Astrid Lindgren and the strength of children: 80 years of Pippi Longstocking”set up in the Innov@zione space in via Roma.

The exhibition, promoted by CRC Innova and curated by the cultural association CUADRI ETS in collaboration with The Astrid Lindgren Company of Stockholm is a tribute not only to the iconic character with red hair and extraordinary strength, but also to her creator, the Swedish writer Astrid Lindgren. Author of children’s masterpieces, Lindgren was also a figure deeply committed to the defense of children’s and animal rights.

The exhibition is designed for an audience of all ages: the little ones will be able to immerse themselves in the magical world of Pippi, while adults will have the opportunity to rediscover a timeless character, a symbol of freedom, courage and non-conformism. Although 80 years have passed since its first publication, Pippi Longstocking continues to speak forcefully to the new generations, proposing a timeless model of autonomy, creativity and self-esteem.

The setup is rich and engaging: from the life-size reproduction of the veranda to Villa Villacolle to 3D characters, from digital animations to interactive multimedia content, up to a selection of collectibles, historical editions and original illustrations. Each room focuses on a different theme: if the first is dedicated to the life and civil commitment of Astrid Lindgren, the second explores the characters and illustrators who made her work famous, to then move on to the third immersive room.

The exhibition, which is free and open to visitors from Tuesday to Sunday, will remain open until Sunday 26 April 2026.
