According to recent research, the use of a medicinal herb widely used in traditional Chinese medicine could be effective in blocking cognitive decline.
A research group led by professor Takami Tomiyama of the Graduate School of Medicine of Osaka Metropolitan University ha discovery that the administration of dried seeds of a type of jujube call Ziziphus jujuba Miller var. thornyused as medicinal herb in traditional Chinese medicine, it is effective in restoring cognitive and motor function.
The study
The researchers administered these seeds to subjects suffering from the disease Alzheimer’sfrontotemporal dementia, disease Parkinson And dementia with Lewy bodiesthe team found that cognitive and motor functions were restored.
Furthermore, when the seeds were simply ground into a powder and administered, the team found that cognitive function recovered to a higher level. Furthermore, the powders apparently suppressed cellular aging and improved their cognitive function.
It is hoped that the results of our research will enable the development of dementia prevention products that middle-aged and elderly people can take at their own discretion.
