Lidl has recalled this smoked salmon which may contain Listeria – the batch to watch out for

A new food alert involves Lidl, which has issued a precautionary recall of a batch of Deluxe brand Norwegian smoked salmon with pistachio.

The measure was activated due to suspicion of possible contamination from Listeria monocytogenesa bacterium that can pose a serious health risk.

Full details of the recalled product

The affected product is sold in packs of 100 grams and bears the batch number LC22606501, with an expiry date of 04/21/2026.

The production plant is located in Busto Arsizio (Varese) and the identifying mark is the following: IT674UE.

The recall was issued as a completely precautionary measure, but the authorities recommend not consuming the product and returning it to the point of sale.

The risks

The presence of Listeria monocytogenes in foods it is particularly insidious because this bacterium can survive even at low temperatures, such as those of the refrigerator. For this reason, ready-to-eat foods, such as smoked salmon, may be at risk if contamination occurs during processing or packaging.

Listeria infection, called listeriosis, can manifest itself with very different symptoms. In most cases it presents with gastrointestinal disorders similar to flu, but in more vulnerable subjects such as pregnant women, the elderly and immunosuppressed people, it can have more serious consequences.

Among the most common symptoms we find persistent fever and chills, nausea, diarrhea and abdominal pain, headache and muscle stiffness but in more serious cases confusion, loss of balance and neurological complications may appear.

Precisely due to the variability and potential severity of the clinical picture, health authorities always recommend maximum attention when a recall due to microbiological risk is reported.

In this specific case, anyone who has purchased Deluxe smoked salmon with pistachio is invited to carefully check the batch and expiry date. If they match those indicated, the product must not be consumed but returned to the point of sale for a refund or replacement.
