The climatic crisis, pollution and loss of biodiversity find new forms of expression in contemporary art. From 30 April to 14 May 2025, the MAXXI – National Museum of the 16th century arts of Rome will host Mama “Mother Nature”an artistic event of international scope that transforms environmental urgency into an exciting visual path.
When art meets environmental activism
The exhibition, organized in Italy by Tommaso Venco in collaboration with the Embassy of Azerbaijan, is part of the context of the next Cop29the United Nations Conference on climate change, representing one of the most significant cultural initiatives related to the event.
An immersive journey through the works
The exhibition itinerary, which includes 127 works between digital installations, paintings, graphics and sculptures, develops as a conceptual labyrinth in which the public is immersed in a visual flow that recalls the power of the natural elements.
The water is the common thread of the exhibition, symbolized since the opening work “The sacred graal of life” by Leyla Aliyeva: a digital installation that represents a liquid universe where water becomes a mirror of the cyclicality of life.
Among the most significant works:
Art as a mirror of the planetary crisis
Many exhibition artists use symbolic and provocative languages to deal with the most urgent environmental themes. Ukraine Anael, with “Drop of the World”connects ecological issues to the dynamics of international power, while the Russian artist Nikolai Makarov presents a more abstract vision with games of lights and shadows that evoke a fragile hope of sustainable future.
EMIN Mammadov, curator of the exhibition, underlines how “Mama ‘Mother Natura’ is an engaging artistic response to the urgent environmental challenges of our time. With different voices from all over the world, the exhibition offers a space for reflection, dialogue and collective awareness”.
In an era in which the climatic crisis requires concrete and immediate actions, Mama “Mother Nature” represents an invitation to collective awareness and individual responsibility, reminding us that the future of the planet depends on the choices we make today.
