THE’astronomical summer it arrived a few days ago and the sky immediately gives us the first show: the June 27just before dawn, we will be able to admire Mars “surrounded” by the Pleiadesa rather rare and beautiful conjunction. But it doesn’t end there, because the event coincides with the expected peak for shooting stars Bootids of June. We don’t lack (and we prepare many desires).
As the UAI explains, on June 27, just before dawn, we will see the rise of the star cluster of Pleiadesin the constellation of Taurus, accompanied by the planet Mars. The show – weather permitting – will be in full visible to the naked eye (on the map the sky of June 27, 2026 at approximately 4.15 am).

Among other things – we always say it – the Pleiades are a spectacle in themselves: in fact the star cluster, far from sources of light pollution, shows us up to 12 stars and in any case, if the weather is kind, it is not difficult count 4 or 5 even in the city.
But it doesn’t end there: in fact, the peak of temperatures is also expected in the same hours June bootidsamong the most anticipated shooting star showers which, although usually rather weak, with ZHR often lower than 5, is capable of producing sudden outburstas happened in 1998 and 2004.
Unfortunately, the maximum on June 27th comes close to the full Moon on the 30th, which could significantly disturb visual observations.
Despite this – the UAI alerts – the swarm always deserves attention precisely because of its unpredictability, so let’s prepare a nice wish list.
