Maxi seizure of ham: you find more than 6 tons of expired salami, frozen and resold like fresh in the tray

The Bologna NAS has seized over 6 tons of cured meats in a carshifiche in the province, detecting serious hygienic-sanitary violations

An important operation of the carabinieri of Nas of Bologna led to the seizure of over 6 tons of cured meats. During the inspection of a sausage factory in the Bolognese province (of which the name was not made known), the military found serious irregularities in the management and conservation of the products.

What was found? Hams, bacon, bacon and culats preserved in a non -compliant way to the regulations. Many of these products were without labeling and it was therefore not possible to trace their origin. Even more serious fact, it emerged that numerous cold cuts, some expired for years, they came frozen for periods over six months, To then be defrosted, sliced and packaged for sale in the tray.

It is evident that the practice of freezing and reselling expired products represents a potential risk to consumer health, can in fact cause food poisoning and serious gastrointestinal problems.

But it’s not everything yet. The inspection also revealed the presence of spices of spices and expired condiments, preserved in warehouses without adequate protection and therefore exposed to insects and other weeds. In addition, several dozen diet shirts used for the processing of ham were stored outside the plant, with consequent risk of environmental contamination.

Following the ascertained violations, the products, with a commercial value of about 180,000 euros, were seized. The owners of the company received penalties for a total of 3,500 euros and the activity was reported to the AUSL for the adoption of further measures.
