A new piece of content from MrBeast, one of the most influential creators in the world, has gained over 220 million views in just a few days. The video shows the famous YouTuber and some people while, blindfolded, they try to guess which wild animals they are petting only through. Over the course of the scenes, a bear, a monkey, a capybara, a kangaroo and even an alligator appear, all used as elements of a game designed to entertain the audience.
While the idea worked from an engagement perspective, it also sparked a heated discussion about the use of wild animals in online content. Many users have expressed discomfort and concern, underlining how animals of this type are not suitable to be exposed to lights, noises and human contact for entertainment purposes.
The use of wild animals to create content has long been criticized because it can cause stress, fear and suffering to animals, even when signs of danger are not immediately visible. This type of exposure can alter their natural behaviors and put them in a situation they can’t control.
PETA’s intervention
The issue has also attracted the attention of PETA, one of the most important animal protection organizations, which has announced its intention to turn to federal authorities to stop what it defines as potentially illegal behavior. According to the association, placing an adult brown bear in close contact with the public represents a real risk and could violate animal welfare regulations. The organization accused MrBeast of using his enormous influence irresponsibly by showing the public scenes that kids who follow him could emulate and reminding that animals are not props.

The controversy is even stronger because it comes from a person also known for his charitable initiatives. MrBeast has built an image over the years linked to donations, humanitarian projects and large-scale economic aid. Precisely for this reason, according to many, the video on animals represents a misstep and a terrible example, especially considering the young audience that follows it. With millions of views, even a seemingly innocuous choice can become dangerous and have huge repercussions. The show cannot ignore responsibility: using wild animals as game objects is not a game at all.
